The weather was turning colder, I was exhausted from the week and I just wanted a plate of spaghetti with Betty’s meat sauce for dinner. Nothing fancy. Something I could let simmer on the stove for a few hours while I watched a movie and piddled around the house. Still, a Friday night warranted something special. I bought this bottle of Chianti at Dorginac’s and although it was not cheap, it didn’t break the bank. It was a beautiful garnet color and silky and tasted like a mixed berry pie. At least, that’s what I thought. Reviewer Antonio Galloni said: “Silky, gracious and inviting, the 2016 starts off gradually and then builds, gaining volume and explosiveness with air.” Wow. It did get better below the shoulder but I thought I was just getting a little tight. This was a great wine, actually. I’m going back to Dorgie’s tomorrow to pick up a few more bottles.
