SPRINGING FORWARD

Dolly Parton has graduated from her training academy.  When I went to pick her up, she had clearly bonded with her trainer and wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to leave with me.  But she had learned how to “sit,” and “stay,” on demand.  The question was, had she gained any confidence or was she still the same scared and timid little fear-biter she was when I left here there?

Well, does this picture answer the question?  Actually, as of this Sunday morning, Dolly has begun to integrate herself into the pack and right now she’s mingling with Josephine and Zelda (who are still wary of her, not surprisingly, as Zelda is sporting a small scar on her jowl as a result of Dolly’s last meltdown).  She’s doing zoomies in the back yard and acting like a … dog!   Zelda is still trying relentlessly to befriend her and I’m optimistic again that this is going to work.  It IS going to work!  But every once in a while, Dolly reacts to a loud noise and her eyes widen and her ears slick back and she looks terrified.  Well, she’s a work in progress (aren’t we all).

And I’m back from Jamaica!  It was a beautiful trip as usual, even though my luggage materialized in Ocho Rios a day after I did.  The weather was gorgeous and it was a much needed respite.  If I could figure out a way to live there, I would.
