HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTESS

Poor Ellie.  Turns out she was hosting pretty much every kind of parasite a little country dog can have.  Luckily for her, she has wormed her way into my heart so she has the ultimate sucker as her benefactor.  After a stressful ordeal at the vet’s office yesterday, I had to give her a bath.  Which meant she got a pretty cold hosing down outside (putting her in my bathtub was out of the question).  She was a champ!  I know the water was cold and she hated it but afterwards she got a good warm rub-down and a new sweater from Petco.  Ellie is making progress and although she is still painfully shy I have noticed that she doesn’t seem afraid of Zelda and Josephine AND she is now going down the hall on her own to do her business outside (and that’s not completely true — getting her outside still requires quite a bit of brute strength on my part, but it is happening).

Thursday night at Fausto’s was so much fun… there was live music while the ‘one and only’ Fausto was mingling.  Lisa and I ate at the bar and had a good bottle of wine.  We had an interesting conversation with a young lady who sat beside us at the bar and told the bartender, “I just had the worst day in court… ever!”  She was still smarting from a rude comment the judge made to her.  Having litigated for 40 years now, I was able to assure her that she has NOT yet experienced her worst day in court ever.  I’m not sure I cheered her up but at least she knows she’s not the lone ranger. At any rate, the evening overall was a good start to the weekend.  Friday night was steak night, and my filet from Chris’ Specialty Meats was AMAZING. All in all, things are going well for my little pack.
