Things I Have Learned About Dining Alone

Tonight I dined at a restaurant called Frenchie's in Coral Gables, Florida. And these are the things I realized I have learned about eating in a nice restaurant alone:
1. I like champagne in a coupe.
2. Ear buds are unnecessary. Eavesdropping is way more entertaining.
3. When the waiter asks, "Are we expecting anyone else?" it's okay to say, "Well, I'm not, are you?"
4. No need for a book or crossword puzzle. Enjoy your surroundings. If it makes someone else uncomfortable to accidentally make eye contact with you, that's their problem.
5. Take your time.
6. Dress like you're on a date because you are.
7. If the waiter is cute and smiles at you, it's okay to leave him a big tip. Same with a waitress who is friendly and funny.
8. Always let your mother know where you are. Or someone. Because you never know...
9. Order from the wine list if you want but don't order anything you don't want.
10. Enjoy being alone. It's better than being with someone who isn't nice to you, or someone who orders Bristol cream sherry at the end of the meal.
