ROOM 3 COMES WITH A DOG

I’m here.  Day One, travel day, was a bit of a disaster.  I missed my flight to Ocho Rios (but my luggage did not).  So I flew into Montego Bay, found Delroy my driver and we headed toward Ian Fleming airport to collect my bags.  But the immigration official in Ocho Rios refused to release my bags because I had failed to fill out a C-7 form in Montego Bay “claiming” them.  My ensuing meltdown did not move this very upright and dedicated government official.  My threat that I needed my medicine or I might wind up in the emergency room had zero effect.  But — I had a third proposal that involved a discreet exchange of currency  — and voila! — the Jamaican government elected to extend me a “courtesy,” and my suitcases were turned over to me.

A Shadow in Room 3

As I may have explained before, Jamaica Inn has a resident black lab named Shadow.  There have been several Shadows at the resort since I started coming here, but the current title holder seems especially friendly.  She also seems to have a connection to Room 3.  When I woke up this morning and opened the doors to my verandah, she was was waiting.  Since then, she’s been in and out, showing up once with a gift and a lot of sand on her nose.  I was slightly disappointed that Room 3 doesn’t have a tub (just a shower) but when I realized it came with a dog, I thought that was a much better amenity.  It’s mid-day on Day 2 and I’m headed to the beach.  Yaaaay!!!!!
