This movie was light, fully of stereotypes, slightly preachy and entirely predictable. Why did I like it so much? Because it was also sweet and funny and easily digestible. The whole movie works because of Robert DeNiro’s amazing comedic talent — some of his one-liners (e.g.,”Reminds me of ‘Nam,” in the helicopter ride) are truly hilarious. This is a movie worth watching when your brain can’t handle anything dark, deep or intense. I promise you, DeNiro makes it worthwhile. And to the critics who said the movie fell short of what it could have been, why can’t it just be what it is? Joyful and fun.
