HAPPY NEW YEAR 2023

It's official: I've reached the age where time goes by so fast it scares me. I used to think a year was such a long time. But 2022 passed in a blink. And the faster time flies, the more valuable it becomes. There were a few moments in 2022 when I experienced the same sensation I had before Hurricane Katrina, that life was so good it just couldn't go on that way and something life-changing might be about to happen. I liked everything about my life before Katrina upset my ENTIRE apple cart, and I like everything about my life NOW. I just hope I have the kind of emotional insurance I didn't possess in 2005. Change happens as long as we are living and the measure of one's happiness is largely how well we navigate change. In 2023 I was in a place I didn't expect to be at age 63 - single, independent, happy. I will be happy if life goes on exactly as it is now. It won't though. The future will bring whatever it brings and that's what I will live through. Knowing I have my friends and family, my dogs, art, music, food and wine is good enough for me, for now.

MY NEW YEAR'S EVE HEAVENLY HAM SOUFFLE WAS PERFECT
WITH A BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE MY SISTER SENT TO ME
AND A NIGHT OF BINGE WATCHING NETFLIX (INSIDE MAN WITH STANLEY TUCCI).
The only unsettling event was when my poodle Josephine escaped
as I opened my door to view the fireworks.
I chased her into the front yard, tripped and fell flat on my face.
Luckily, my neighbors herded the dog back to my house while I unplanted myself.
On the first day of this year, I'm a little sore and achy!
And grateful for my nice neighbors who tolerate me and my menagerie!
