Easter symbolizes rebirth, renewal and perhaps the most underrated of all virtues: forgiveness. I was privileged to be invited to Dooky Chase's on Holy Thursday for Green Gumbo. I spent Easter Sunday afternoon with my mom and instead of our usual Scrabble game, we watched The Blue Dahlia for which Raymond Chandler was nominated for best original screenplay in 1946. I knew my mom and I would not eat a huge meal, so I grilled a ham steak and made some killer potato salad. That's it! And it was perfect. (See recipe on this site). Sometimes a single dish made with love is more satisfying than a feast.
