LES PALLIERES Les Racines 2022

Gigondas is an appellation in the Southern Rhone producing red wines made from mostly Grenache and Syrah grapes. Les Pallières is a historic Gigondas wine estate known for its two flagship red AOP Gigondas cuvées “Les Racines” and “Terrasse du Diable,” and its revival under the Brunier family and Kermit Lynch since 1998. The domaine dates back to the 15th century. After decades of decline, it was purchased in 1998 by Daniel and Frédéric Brunier (Vieux Télégraphe) and importer Kermit Lynch.

This was a wonderful wine. I had a bit of a cold when I drank it so I’m going to have a do-over at some point in the future. However, it did not disappoint… it was juicy and fruity and I wondered if I hadn’t had too many Luden’s cough drops, but then the wine developed some other evocative aromas not entirely identifiable to my impaired senses but delightful nonetheless. The finish and texture were really nice. Not inexpensive but definitely worth it at around 73 bucks .
