Who doesn’t love a Martin Scorsese movie? This movie is richly textured with great actors and a compelling story. Based on a true story and a 2017 book by David Grann, it recounts the brutal murders of a number of Osage Indians in the late 1920’s. But it was too long and something about Leo DiCaprio’s performance left me… well, shall we say, “un-moved.” By the time it was over, I realized I wasn’t completely invested in the murder mystery which is a shame because I should have been. The movie just did not draw me in or pack the emotional punch that the subject matter should have generated. Still, it was fun to watch, and I don’t “not” recommend it. And, for the record, this is not my choice for “Best Picture,” in 2023.
