DALLAS BUYER’S CLUB (2013)

Obviously, I saw this when it was released. But I loved it more on the re-watch. Matthew McConaughey won an Oscar for Best Actor, and Jared Leto won for Best Supporting Actor. And those accolades were well deserved. If you don’t recall, this movie is set in 1985 Dallas when a homophobic electrician cowboy is diagnosed with AIDS and begins smuggling unapproved pharmaceuticals into Texas for himself and others. I had forgotten that it was filmed in New Orleans. McConaughey is simply amazing and impossible not to watch. The word riveting comes to mind. I loved this movie — even more the second time.
