This movie had a Hitchcockian feel to it. The majestic Alpine mountains give looming perspective to the intimate details of a marriage gone wrong. In essence, this is a courtroom drama but for anyone familiar with the United States judicial system, the French proceedings are bafflingly devoid of any evidentiary rules. The marriage itself is the main character in this movie and like all interesting characters, it is nuanced and deeply flawed. Did the unhappy husband jump to his death… did he fall accidentally? Or — was he pushed. I liked this movie a LOT. Be forewarned: it requires your full attention. Unless you speak French, you will have to read subtitles for the courtroom scenes. It’s a good movie to watch with a friend who is willing to discuss it along the way.
