This is what I think about the 10 movies nominated for Best Picture in 10 words “or so.” As if anyone cares! But I’ve now watched all the movies in the top ten list and I’m ready for Oscar night and betting it all on Hamnet!
SENTIMENTAL VALUE. Nordic People Problems.
F1. Brad Pitt and Roaring Engines. Good Vibrations.
TRAIN DREAMS. Thanks for reminding me Life’s a Bitch and then you die.
SINNERS. I preferred Blacula.
ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER. No.
FRANKENSTEIN. Giving me Saturday Morning movies at the Ritz!
THE SECRET AGENT. Possibly a great movie.
MARTY SUPREME. Who cares, the guy was an asshole.
BUGONIA. The existentialist version of John Belushi in a bee suit.
HAMNET. This is why movies are made.
My prediction is that Hamnet will sweep the Oscars. Sinners seems also to be a favorite but I do not understand why. Frankenstein was fun to watch. Bugonia was ridiculous. F1 was entertaining and who doesn’t like to watch Brad Pitt. Marty Supreme was fun when Marty was playing ping-pong and hard to watch when he wasn’t. The Secret Agent was great and I regret I had to read sub-titles (my fault, not the movie’s). One Battle After Another annoyed me. Train Dreams depressed me. Sentimental Value bored me and the people in it.
