It stars Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney, Daniel Brühl, Felix Kammerer, Toby Wallace, and Richard Roxburgh. The film is based on the true story of several European settlers, including Margret Wittmer, who arrive on the isolated Floreana Island, in the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador, pre-World War II, hoping to start a life there.
I LOVED THIS MOVIE. Directed by Ron Howard, it was a compelling survival film driven by relatable if not altogether likeable characters. I was completely drawn into this story and could never have predicted the twists and turns. This was a true story, although the truth of what happened to some of the people on this island remains undetermined. Not surprisingly, the more people who turned up on this island, the more uncivilized life became. The lush yet often inhospitable background was gorgeously filmed. Jude Law’s performance was terrific (spoiler alert: his full frontal nudity was impressive). All the performances in this film were award worthy. Don’t miss this one.
