One of the nice things about being competent in the kitchen and enjoying cooking is that I can decide what I want to have for dinner and then make it happen. Last night, I was inexplicably in the mood for garlic soup. The weather was not right for garlic soup! It was hot and muggy but a summer shower did cool things off a bit. Still, this garlic soup recipe will remain unpublished for now… I roasted four heads of garlic and while it smelled divine, the garlic in the soup was a bit much. Just a bit. I’ll have to work on this recipe before it goes prime time. Today I’m trying to figure out how to use that left-over garlicky cream sauce. I’m also still working on my halibut, carrot flan and Beurre Blanc dish. See the pictures below. While the dish was delicious, the recipe just isn’t quite ready for disclosure. Working on that one too! And still working on the Orange Chicken recipe. The picture is nice but the chicken was overcooked so that recipe remains unpublished for now. Meanwhile, when I want something good but easy, I like grilled tuna fish and cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, and burgers and fries, a plate of spaghetti and tomatoes, or a crock of cheese spread. And of course no matter how simple or fancy the food is, it’s always better when served on a beautiful plate. With a nice wine. By candlelight. Dogs curled up and happy. With the sound of rain and a lightning show in the background, even better.
