This might be the best 2023 movie I saw. How Annette Benning made the narcissistic Diana Nyad such an interesting and likeable character is a testament to her acting abilities. Jodie Foster was amazing, too, as always. This movie drew me in from the first frame and held my interest all the way through. At the end, I was standing in front of the tv crying my eyes out. This might be the best grown-up-female buddy movie of all time but it’s also a coming-of-late-middle-age-movie, an action adventure movie and a suspense movie (unless you knew the story of Diana Nyad before you watched it)! Watch this. If your endorphins don’t start flowing as Nyad trains and swims, you need some Geritol.
